Services

Four ways we can serve you

Each sacrifice is performed in Kenya by a Muslim, in the name of Allah, on a healthy animal of the required age. Choose the service, and we handle the rest.

Aqeeqa

Boy: 2 animals · Girl: 1

A Sunnah gift of thanks for a newborn: two animals for a boy, one for a girl, ideally on the seventh day, though later is fine. We say your child's name in the video.

Read the hadith

كُلُّ غُلَامٍ رَهِينَةٌ بِعَقِيقَتِهِ، تُذْبَحُ عَنْهُ يَوْمَ سَابِعِهِ، وَيُحْلَقُ، وَيُسَمَّى

"Every child is held in pledge for his Aqeeqah, which is slaughtered for him on the seventh day, his head is shaved, and he is named."

Abu Dawud & Tirmidhi

Qurbani

Eid al-Adha · 10–12 Dhul Hijjah

The Eid al-Adha sacrifice, performed after the Eid prayer on 10–12 Dhul Hijjah. A sheep or goat is one person's Qurbani. A whole cow can carry up to seven names, so a family can book one together.

Read the verse

لَن يَنَالَ اللَّهَ لُحُومُهَا وَلَا دِمَاؤُهَا وَلَٰكِن يَنَالُهُ التَّقْوَىٰ مِنكُمْ

"It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is your piety that reaches Him."

Quran 22:37

Sadaqah

Any day of the year

Voluntary charity on any day of the year. Many give a sacrifice for a deceased parent or relative, in gratitude for a blessing, during illness or hardship, or simply to seek reward.

Read the hadith

مَا نَقَصَتْ صَدَقَةٌ مِنْ مَالٍ

"Charity does not decrease wealth."

Sahih Muslim

Fidyah

For fasts you cannot make up

Feeding people in need in place of fasts you cannot make up. We arrange the sacrifice and distribution. Please confirm with a scholar that Fidyah applies to your situation.

Read the verse

وَعَلَى الَّذِينَ يُطِيقُونَهُ فِدْيَةٌ طَعَامُ مِسْكِينٍ

"And upon those who are able [to fast, but with hardship], a ransom of feeding a poor person."

Quran 2:184

FAQ

Questions people ask us

Video proof and delivery

How does the video proof work?

After the sacrifice we send you a video on WhatsApp within 24‑48 hours. It shows the animal, the names you gave us being mentioned, and the sacrifice itself.

Do you serve the USA and the rest of Canada?

Yes. We serve families across Canada and the USA. Order on WhatsApp from anywhere in either country. The sacrifice is performed in Kenya on your behalf, so nothing needs to be shipped, and the video is sent to you wherever you are.

Ordering and payment

Can I mention more than one name?

Yes. For Aqeeqa we name the child. For Qurbani and Sadaqah you can name yourself and family members. A sheep or goat is for one person, and a whole cow can carry up to seven names.

Do you sell cow shares?

No. We slaughter one whole cow per order and do not sell individual shares. A whole cow can carry up to seven names for Qurbani, so a family can book one together and split the cost among themselves. Seven names on one cow works out to about CAD 150 per name.

Can I choose between a goat and a sheep?

Yes. Choose goat (CAD 195) or sheep (CAD 175) when you order. Both meet the age and health requirements for sacrifice.

How do I pay?

Online, when you place your order: by card through Stripe, or by Interac e-Transfer from a Canadian bank. A card order is confirmed the moment the payment goes through, and an e-Transfer order as soon as the money lands. Your confirmation comes to your WhatsApp. Card details are handled by Stripe and never reach us.

What if I need to cancel?

You can cancel any time before the sacrifice is performed for a full refund, no questions asked. Use the refund page with the reference from your receipt, or message us on WhatsApp, and we refund the same card or account within 5 to 10 business days. Please ask us before opening a dispute with your bank: a chargeback freezes the money for weeks, while a refund from us is quick. Once the sacrifice has taken place, the order cannot be refunded.

Why are your prices lower than Canadian charities and butchers?

Because the animal is bought and sacrificed in Kenya, where livestock costs a fraction of Canadian prices, and because we are a small team with no overhead to pass on. A sacrifice performed in Canada typically costs CAD 500 or more. Ours costs CAD 175 to 195 with a video of your own sacrifice, and the meat feeds families who need it most.

Do you issue tax receipts?

No. Sunnah Slaughter is a business, not a registered charity, so payments are not tax-deductible. You receive a receipt for your payment and the video as proof that the sacrifice was performed.

The sacrifice

Where is the sacrifice performed?

In Kenya. Our team there buys the animal, performs the sacrifice by hand according to the Sunnah with your names spoken aloud, films it, and distributes the meat to families in need nearby. You order from Canada or the USA and receive the video on WhatsApp within 24‑48 hours.

Is the slaughter halal and according to the Sunnah?

Yes. The sacrifice is performed by a Muslim, with the name of Allah pronounced, using a sharp knife and a swift cut, on a healthy animal of the required age.

When is Qurbani performed?

After the Eid prayer, on the 10th to 12th of Dhul Hijjah. Some scholars include the 13th. Rulings can differ between schools of thought, so please consult a scholar for your situation.

What if I missed the seventh day for Aqeeqa?

You can still book. The seventh day is ideal, and many scholars also mention the 14th or 21st day, or any time after that. Tell us the date of birth and we will aim for the nearest suitable day. Please consult a scholar for your situation.

Where does the meat go?

All of the meat is distributed to families in need in Kenya, where the sacrifice takes place. Nothing is sold. Because the meat stays in Kenya, we cannot send a portion to you in Canada or the USA.

Is Qurbani obligatory or sunnah?

Scholars differ. In the Hanafi school Qurbani is wajib (obligatory) for every adult Muslim who owns the nisab and is not travelling. The Shafi'i, Maliki and Hanbali schools regard it as a confirmed sunnah. Please follow your own school and consult a scholar if you are unsure.

What is nisab?

Nisab is the minimum amount of wealth that makes Zakat due, and in the Hanafi school it is also the threshold at which Qurbani becomes obligatory. It is the value of 87.48 g of gold or 612.36 g of silver held above your needs; many scholars use the silver figure, which is a few hundred Canadian dollars. If your savings are above it, Qurbani applies to you.
